Lorena De Vita
PI
Lorena De Vita is Assistant Professor in the History of International Relations and PI of the Wording Repair project. Her research addresses crucial questions, such as: What does it mean, in international politics, to repair for past harm? Why is reconciliation possible in some cases, and seemingly impossible in others? Her team at Utrecht University employes historical and digital methods to analyse the politics of reparations, bringing a historical perspective to bear on contemporary debates.
Laura Fahnenbruck
Postdoctoral Researcher
Laura Fahnenbruck is a postdoctoral researcher in the Wording Repair project at the Department of History and Art History of Utrecht University. As a junior data engineer, and experienced researcher with a background in cultural studies and German history, her contribution to the Wording Repair project focuses especially on the use of Transkribus for the transcription of the handwritten source materials. Laura received her PhD in Modern History from the University of Groningen in 2015 and has extensive experience in the fields of digital and public history.
Naomi Hoogenraad
Student Assistant
Naomi Hoogenraad is a student assistant for the Wording Repair team, where she supports administrative, research, and communication activities. She is a Honours student studying Social Geographies and German Language and Culture at Utrecht University. Naomi is actively involved in Aufschwung the Utrecht-based student society dedicated to German studies and cultures, and in spring 2024 she will be going on exchange to the University of Bochum (Germany).
Teresa Marx
Research Assistant
Teresa Marx is the Research Assistant of the Wording Repair project and a PhD candidate at the University of Potsdam (Germany), where she is writing a doctoral dissertation under the supervision of prof. dr. Thomas Brechenmacher (Professur Neuere Geschichte, deutsch-jüdische Geschichte). She has experience of conducting research with memoirs and letters, and her research interests focus on the history and aftermath of the Holocaust.
Coen van der Stappen
Digitsation Expert, Utrecht University
Coen van der Stappen is a member of the Digital Humanities Team at the University Utrecht Library, where he focuses on (automated) text recognition of both printed and written material. He coordinates the scanning and digitization of old and special prints, manuscripts, and map and archive material for the Special Collections Portal of Utrecht University and he is also the point of contact for external digitization requests and digitization projects, including Wording Repair.
Frank Drauschke
Facts and Files, Berlin
Frank Drauschke studied History and International Relations at the Humboldt University in Berlin and at Jawahrlal Nehru University in New Dehli. He has extensive experience in historical research and in 1999 he co-founded the partnership company Facts & Files together with Beate Schreiber. Frank has been involved in the Europeana-Transcribathon initiative and has long been at the forefront of the developments in the fields of digital humanities and public history, in Germany and beyond.
Manuel Zoller
Medien-Digital.de, Stuttgart
Manuel Zoller heads the medien-digital company, located in Baden-Württemberg, which cooperates with both private clients as well as public archives and he implemented the phased top-quality digitisation of the very delicate primary sources which form the heart of the Wording Repair project.
Arja Firet
Arja Firet heads the Digital Humanities Team at the University Utrecht Library, where she is a subject specialist for the Humanities. Arja is actively involved in numerous national and international networks, including the UKB / Digital Scholarship and Skills group. She has been involved in the project from the very beginning, providing crucial guidance to the whole team at Wording Repair and fostering collaboration between the Department of History and Art History, the Utrecht University Library, and the Center for Digital Humanities.
